Workshop Performance

Following more than a year long regular dance and self-development activities with a group of young people from Wales, an international youth exchange in Latvia and residential workshops, we had a great opportunity to share our process and outcomes with a Bettws community: friends, parents, dance enthusiasts and youth workers. It was a joy to watch our young participants take pride in what they had achieved and experienced. They shared some of the tasks and exercises we had done together, such as “Impossible Tasks” (devising and developing detailed movement sequences) and “I stand out” movement and spoken text task; they talked about how they connected deeply with people from other countries and cultures in the youth exchange in Latvia, they shared their personal creative writings and performed parts of a dance they had worked on throughout the year and in the summer in Latvia.

International Youth Work event

We felt very proud to share the process and outcomes of our project with youth leaders and artists nationally and internationally. This event welcomed people from Wales, Spain, Croatia, Ukraine and Germany as well as a group of local dance practitioners. It felt like a celebration of all the hard work leading and delivering the project as well as an opportunity to share our findings and methods of using dance within youth work to engage with important topics and empower the participants.
